Over two days of competition, 250 of the country's strongest cyclists rode through the streets of the IT city, and residents were able to become part of the championship by participating in a mass race.
On the first day, athletes determined the strongest in the individual race. Women covered a distance of 26.6 km, while men covered 36 km. On the second day, a mixed team relay race took place over a distance of 18 km.
"For the second year in a row, our city has become the capital of Russian cycling. For Innopolis, cycling is not only a sport but also a part of urban culture. For many residents, cycling is a familiar form of public transportation. From the very beginning, we designed the infrastructure to be cyclist-friendly: compact development, a unified network of bike paths, and bike racks throughout the city. "That's why the championship fits so seamlessly into the city's life," said Mayor Ildar Khuzzyatov.
Today, the Moscow team won the mixed relay. Its members included Savva Novikov, Mikhail Fokin, Artemy Khomyakov, Tamara Dronova, Tatyana Malkova, and Ksenia Bogoyavlenskaya.
The awards were presented by Innopolis Mayor Ildar Khuzzyatov and representatives of the Russian and Tatarstan Cycling Federations.
Two more major sporting events are planned for Innopolis this summer: the Innopolis Trail on July 18 and the Race of Heroes on August 15.
